I have never really cried a huge amount over an animal. War Horse nor Black Beauty really got me… Babe and Charlotte’s Web are a different story… They involve pigs and let’s face it – pigs float my boat. I wouldn’t like to be stuck on a boat with one but you catch my drift. I can’t help but shove a Churchill quote in here. ‘ I like pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.’
Anyhow, you pass that hospital and you see what pet love is about. There’s crying, there’s hysteria… cats in prams, gerbils on cushions, dogs in wheelchairs and donkeys on stretchers.
I’d advise you to board that coach, chew some gum and ignore the urge to go looking for a sandwich. You might just encounter a world of pain you weren’t quite ready for…
